1. Information about the processed data

a) When visiting the website
The use of our website is generally possible without providing personal data. No data related to your identity (such as name, address, or email address) is collected on our site. The browser used on your device only automatically sends information to the server of our website (e.g., browser type and version, date and time of access) to enable the connection to the website. This includes the IP address of your requesting device, which is temporarily stored in a so-called log file and automatically deleted after 4 days.

The processing of the IP address is carried out for technical and administrative purposes of connection establishment and stability, to ensure the security and functionality of our website, and, if necessary, to trace unlawful attacks.

The legal basis for processing the IP address is Art. 6(1)(e) GDPR. Our legitimate interest arises from the aforementioned security interest and the necessity of providing a website that operates without disruption. We cannot draw any immediate conclusions about your identity from the processing of the IP address and other information in the log file. Additionally, we use cookies and analytics services during your visit to our website. Further explanations can be found under sections 4 and 5 of this privacy policy.

The website is hosted by the https://www.lrz.de/englishin Munich.

When registering for an event, certain mandatory information must be provided, such as first and last name and email address. Any other mandatory information will be clearly marked (e.g., with an asterisk *). Additionally, you may voluntarily provide further information. The processing of mandatory information is required to identify the interested parties as participants in the event and to process the contract for participation, as well as to provide participants with information about the event before, during, and after it. The voluntary information helps us plan and conduct the event in a manner that is appropriate to participants’ interests and age groups. Data processing is carried out at the request of the interested participants and is necessary under Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR for the fulfillment of the participant contract and pre-contractual measures.

2. Data transmission

We would like to point out that data transmission over the internet (e.g., when linking to an external LinkedIn or Bluesky page) may have security vulnerabilities. A complete protection of data from third-party access is not possible. The operators of the site reserve the right to take legal action in the event of unsolicited promotional information, such as spam emails.
