Collaborative Research Topics

The research association is working on a total of ten sub-project, which are described on the respective sub-pages.

In addition, the members of the association focus on three shared family-related topics, in which interdisciplinary exchange provides comprehensive insights:

1. Transformations
   How do societal transformation processes affect families in Bavaria and, conversely, what transformation processes originate from families and impact society in Bavaria?
2. Negotiations
   What negotiations concerning family itself—for example, conflicts between generations, parents, or siblings, the division of labor, or the organization of daily life—take place within families? What negotiations of family can be observed in the media, in institutions, or in law?
3. Resources
   With which resources is family realized in Bavaria? Resources here are understood, for example, as education, time, money, networks, rights, or space. In which constellations or material forms (e.g. infrastructure, form of housing) are these resources concretely implemented?

Beyond collaboration on specific research topics, there will also be other forms of exchange within the overall association:

Understanding “Who thinks how?”—for example, the methods and conceptual understandings being used—is an important driver for enabling and fueling substantive work. The exchange of scientific methods and concepts is both meaningful and necessary, as these can vary significantly between disciplines and may not be familiar across disciplinary boundaries. Different understandings and perspectives become apparent and can greatly enrich and inspire individual researchers.

Important experiences and findings on methods and conditions for successful interdisciplinarity will emerge from these processes.
